The opening event in Xanthi was held successfully

The opening event in Xanthi was held successfully.

In the framework of the program Active Citizens Fund.

Keeping the social distancing and all the necessary hygiene measures, Ladies Union of Drama – H.O.H., as the implementing body, held the opening event of the project “Mobile School Travels” in Xanthi.

The event took place on Friday 9 October 2020 in a central hotel of the city, with the attendance of representatives of policy and polity leadership, representatives of organizations and friends. The President AlikiTsiamoura thanked everyone that attended the event, made a brief speech on the actions of Ladies Union of Drama, and also thanked the fund operators of the Active Citizens Fund program, which are the Bodossaki Foundation and SolidarityNow.

Afterwards the project was presented by its manager ChrysaKelaidi. Greetings were by the EEA Grants Adviser of the Norwegian Embassy Maria Fola through video, by the Programme Officer of Bodossaki Foundation Maria Tsene through a live call, and by the Manager of the Belgian OrganizaitonStreetwiZe Rob Sweldens through video.

Following two years of interventions in Drama, the Mobile School now travels three times per week in areas of Drama, Kavala and Xanthi, in order to reach Roma children that are excluded from the school communities or due to their family environment are unable to have a normal attendance. Its goal is to empower and prepare children to integrate in the school communities and society at large.
