THE DOUBLE ACTION OF THE LADIES UNION OF DRAMA-H.O.H. THE PROJECT “MOBILE SCHOOL TRAVELS” WAS HELD SUCCESSFULLY IN ELEFTHERIA SQUARE OF KAVALA

The double action of the project of the Ladies Union of Drama – H.O.H “Mobile School Travels” took place with great success in Eleftheria Square of Kavala on Thursday, June 24th .

 

With the full support of the Municipality of Kavala, a project team and volunteers informed the public of the city by handing out leaflets, while Roma and non-Roma children approached the mobile school to play and have fun and creatively. At the same time, in the context of information about the implementation of the project around the square, but also in the streets of the city, a passing car informed the public about the actions of the Mobile School. The action was honored by the presence of the mayor of Kavala, Thodoris Mouriadis, who did not hide his enthusiasm, was thoroughly informed about its work and goals, while he stated that he is looking forward to seeing the Mobile School again at the Cosmopolis Festival. For his part, Andreas Karagiorgis, Vice Regional Director of Fisheries Policy, stated, among other things: “Logic says that when there is an organization like the Ladies Union of Drama-H.O.H. with long-term experience that implements projects such as “The Mobile School Travels”, the Local Government has to stand as a helper and supporter. I want to congratulate Mrs. Aliki and the whole team for the great work “.

 

The president of the Ladies Union of Drama-H.O.H. Aliki Tsiamoura stressed: “We must all learn the word cooperation. Whatever is good in one city can be transferred to another. We must not keep anything to ourselves. The project “The Mobile School Travels”, through the funding provided by the Active citizens fund program, gives us exactly this opportunity, to travel to Kavala and Xanthi, to reach more Roma children living and working on the streets and to transfer whatever know-how we have acquired “.

 

After two years of interventions only within Drama, the Mobile School, travels three times a week to areas of Drama, Kavala and Xanthi, in order to reach Roma children who are excluded for either social or family reasons from school communities and cannot have regular attendance.

The project “The Mobile School Travels” is implemented within the framework of the Active citizens fund program, with the implementing body the Ladies Union of Drama – H.O.H The Active citizens fund program, amounting to € 12 million, is funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway and is part of the European Economic Area (EEA) funding mechanism for the period 2014 – 2021, known as EEA Grants. The program aims to strengthen and enhance the sustainability of civil society and to highlight its role in promoting democratic processes, enhancing citizen participation in the community and defending human rights. The management of the Active citizens fund program in Greece has been jointly undertaken by the Bodosakis Foundation and SolidarityNow.
