The documentary “Mobile School Travels” at the 47th Drama Festival

The documentary “Mobile School Travels” will be screened at the 47th Drama Short Film Festival.

The screening will take place on Wednesday 4 September at the Arenon Gymnasium at 20:30 p.m. It is a short documentary directed by Loukas Paleokrasas and produced by the Ladies’ Union of Drama- H.O.H. that tells the story of the life of Roma children who live in the Philippou camp of Drama and work on the streets. It was filmed during the educational project “Mobile School Travels”, which was implemented within the framework of the Active Citizens Fund project, with the Association of Ladies of Drama-H.O.H. The main objectives of the project “Mobile School” are the elimination of school dropout and illiteracy, the encouragement of Roma children’s participation in educational activities and the strengthening of their self-esteem, objectives that contribute to their psycho-social uplift and the acquisition of basic skills.

With these information and awareness-raising actions, this documentary and any future screening of this project, the aim is to inform the public on issues of equality, diversity, racism and human rights.

The 47th Drama Short Film Festival will take place on September 2-8, 2024 in Drama with a rich program that includes 211 films from 39 countries. Of these, 148 short films are competing in the 7 competition sections of DISFF, while 63 are screened in this year’s special screenings. The Drama Festival will screen a total of 62 Greek films in its competition sections, which will be presented in national and world premieres.

 

 

 

 

The project  “Mobile School Travels” was developed within the framework of the Activecitizensfund project, implemented by the Ladies’ Union of Drama – H.O.H. The Active citizens fund project, amounting to € 15 million, was funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway and is part of the European Economic Area (EEA) funding mechanism for the period 2014 – 2021, known as EEA Grants. The project aimed to strengthen and enhance the sustainability of civil society and to highlight its role in promoting democratic processes, enhancing citizens’ participation in the community and defending human rights.
