16 Jul MOBILE SCHOOL APPROACHES ROMA CHILDREN OF THE WIDER AREA OF DRAMA

Despite the new outbreak of the coronavirus, the “Mobile School Travels” project group of the Ladies’ Union of Drama -H.O.H. dynamically continues its interventions, in order to approach Roma children in the wider area of the Prefecture of Drama.
Temporarily and following the approval of the Grant Administrator, Kavala and Xanthi were removed from the initial planning, but areas of the Municipalities of Prosotsani, Paranesti and Doxato were added. Specifically, interventions began in Kalampaki, Fotolivos, Prosotsani, Petrousa, Sitagri, Adriani and Paranesti.
During the interventions, active games and games of an educational nature are carried out with all the children, with the aim of developing their basic and cognitive skills through a pleasant process.
The children have the opportunity to learn about the operation of the Mobile School and its actions and to actively participate in all activities. At the same time, they manufacture protective masks against the coronavirus and are informed by the project team about methods of prevention.
The project “The Mobile School Travels” is implemented within the framework of the Active citizensfund program, with the implementing body of the Ladies’ Union of Drama – House of Open Hospitality (H.O.H). The Active citizens fund program, amounting to €12 million, is financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway and is part of the financial mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA) for the period 2014 – 2021, known as EEA Grants. The program aims to strengthen and optimize the sustainability of civil society, as well to highlight its role in promoting democratic processes, strengthening citizens’ participation in society and defending human rights.
