In a new intervention area – The Mobile School Travels in Koudounia, Drama

The project team “The Mobile School Travels” on Friday, March 26th made its first intervention in the community of Koudounia of the Municipality of Drama, wanting to reach and embrace more and more Roma children.

During the intervention, new Roma children were approached and introductory games, active and educational games related to the heroes and heroines of the Revolution of 1821, as well as games of cognitive skills. The children participated enthusiastically and had the opportunity to actively participate in all the activities of the Mobile School, observing all the necessary measures against the pandemic. In this effort, our valuable assistant was the president of the community of Koudounia, Kotsambasis Michalis, who showed great interest in this action.

After two years of interventions in Drama, the Mobile School travels three times a week to areas of Drama, Kavala and Xanthi, in order to reach Roma children who are excluded from school communities or due to their family environment they can not have regular education. . The aim is to encourage and prepare children to integrate into school communities and the wider society.

The project “The Mobile School Travels” is implemented within the framework of the Active citizens fund program, with the implementing body the Ladies Union of Drama – H.O.H The Active citizens fund program, amounting to € 12 million, is funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway and is part of the European Economic Area (EEA) funding mechanism for the period 2014 – 2021, known as EEA Grants. The program aims to strengthen and enhance the sustainability of civil society and to highlight its role in promoting democratic processes, enhancing citizen participation in the community and defending human rights. The management of the Active citizens fund program in Greece has been jointly undertaken by the Bodosakis Foundation and SolidarityNow.
