25 Jan FRIDAY, JANUARY 27, IN ATHENS THE “MOBILE SCHOOL TRAVELS” PROJECT
On Friday, January 27 at 1 P.M, at the event hall of the General Secretariat of Information and Communication of the Ministry of Labor and Employment, there will be a presentation of the three-year project of the Ladies’ Union of Drama “The Mobile School Travels”.
The presentation will be made by the President, Aliki Tsiamoura, who will report on the goals achieved since its beginning until today. The theme of the conference is: “ROMA PLATFORM 2020- DEVELOPMENT OF THE NATIONAL PLATFORM FOR CONSULTATION AND DIALOGUE ON ROMA ISSUES OF THE NATIONAL CONTACT POINT FOR THE ROMA”. Its goal is the development of the dialogue with the Roma communities in the context of the implementation of the new National Strategy and Action Plan for the Social Integration of the Roma 2021-2030.
After three years of interventions only within Drama, the Mobile School from 2020 until today is taking place three times a week in areas of Drama, Kavala and Xanthi, in order to approach Roma children who either for social or family reasons are excluded from the school communities and cannot have a regular education.
The project “The Mobile School Travels” is implemented within the framework of the Active citizensfund program, with the implementing body of the Ladies’ Union of Drama – House of Open Hospitality (HOH). The Active citizens fund program, amounting to €13,5 million, is financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway and is part of the financial mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA) for the period 2014 – 2021, known as EEA Grants. The program aims to strengthen and optimize the sustainability of civil society, as well to highlight its role in promoting democratic processes, strengthening citizens’ participation in society and defending human rights.
