On Thursday, May 20th, 2021 from 11:30 a.m. and for two hours in the central square of Drama the project team “The Mobile School Travels” of the Union of Ladies of Drama – H.O.H. will perform a double action.

On the one hand, it will intervene with the Roma children who will approach it and on the other hand, it will inform and raise public awareness about the project. The public will also have the opportunity to see the Mobile School up close, to be informed extensively about its actions and operation as well as to get to know the team of street workers that staff it. All of the above will be done in strict compliance with the protection measures against the pandemic. After two years of interventions in Drama, the Mobile School is located three times a week in areas of Drama, Kavala and Xanthi, in order to reach Roma children who are excluded from school communities or due to their family environment they can not have a normal study.

The project “The Mobile School Travels” is implemented within the framework of the Active citizens fund program, with the implementing body the Ladies Union of Drama – H.O.H The Active citizens fund program, amounting to € 12 million, is funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway and is part of the European Economic Area (EEA) funding mechanism for the period 2014 – 2021, known as EEA Grants. The program aims to strengthen and enhance the sustainability of civil society and to highlight its role in promoting democratic processes, enhancing citizen participation in the community and defending human rights. The management of the Active citizens fund program in Greece has been jointly undertaken by the Bodosakis Foundation and SolidarityNow.
